1932
Alfa Romeo Monza
This car is something else. In it's day it was the fastest road racing
car bar none. It has an all aluminmun dual over head cam, supercharged,
hemi straight 8 engine which are impressive attributes by today's standards.
While employed at Epifani Restorations in Berkeley, CA I was involved
in the restoration of this car. It took five of us approx. two years to
complete. In fact it was done twice! The first time the customer wanted
it red and when we completed it, it looked all wrong (trust me it really
didn't look right, so much so that I actually didn't like this car at
all and would have taken my boss' 1934 Ford cabriolet over this thing
anyday). He brought it back and I competely disassembled it down to the
frame, had every piece repainted Alfa's racing color, burgundy (which,
to my surprise, won me over on it), reassmbled it once more and showed
it two days later at the concours
d'elegance in Pebble Beach, CA.
Oh, to be rich...
